Orthodox priest receives AstraZeneca vaccine live on TV

Father Giorgi Chachava has received the AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine, becoming the first Orthodox priest to receive the shot live on TV.

Condemning the propaganda against the vaccination in Georgia Father Giorgi said the conspiracy theories aim to do nothing more but make Georgia step back.

He said we have to go through the vaccination real quickly ‘to ensure eventual reopening of this country’ and return back to normal again.

Head of Georgia’s National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) Amiran Gamkrelidze, who received the Sinopharm vaccine earlier this week, thanked the priest for his ‘huge civic responsibility’, which serves as an example to the rest of the Georgian society.
